So you don’t have to, we’re watching Fox’s frozen food heir and perpetually befuddled host Tucker Carlson, broadcast his pre-taped and edited interview with indicted felon Donald Trump. A half-hour in, there’s nothing really new except a series of utterly false statements–like “Biden didn’t know “about nuclear” and that Trump “never mentioned nuclear.” (…well, except for the whole threatening North Korea with a “bigger button” and nuking hurricanes, but that’s how he wants to re-write history.)
Along with the string of consistent lies, Trump mentioned that people are making too big of a deal about global warming, which he claims will only increase water levels one inch in 300 years. (More like an inch every three years, but like Stormy related, Trump probably doesn’t know how long an inch is.) “The problem we have, the biggest problem we have in the whole world, it’s not global warming. It’s nuclear warming.” And Tucker responds with his trademark vacant, gaped-mouth stare.
8:40 p.m. ET: Trump just said he had a “perfect NDA” with Stormy Daniels, adding to the “perfect phone call” and the “perfect call for insurrection.” (Okay, I may have made that last one up.)
8:44 p.m. ET: Trump says nothing, not even a conviction, would take him out of the 2024 presidential race.
8:46 p.m. ET: As they’re coming out of break, Carlson: “We spent more than an hour with Donald Trump today, and we were struck throughout the course of the conversation how his grasp of foreign policy–this man was supposedly stupid–his understanding of world affair is so much more nuanced and sophisticated and pro-American than the moronic neocons currently in charge.” Tucker goes on to lambast the Ukrainian effort to expel Russia. And he brings up Trump and Xi and the Chocolate Cake–minutes after Trump decried French President Macron visiting Xi in China as a sign of American weakness. (They mentioned the “beautiful chocolate cake” at least four times.)
8:55 p.m. ET: Trump says Xi had a “very beautiful female interpreter” with him at Mar-a-Lago when he launched 57 missiles into Syria in 2017, which he planned in the dining room of Mar-a-Lago, with Xi sitting at his side. Trump claims he was “very hard on Russia” and “killed a lot of Russians” in the attack. In fact, Trump gave Russia advanced warning of the attack, allowing them to remove their troops; other reports also note that Syrian military aircraft were evacuated from the targeted base in Shayrat prior to the attack, likely because Russia warned Syria.
