Jaydee and Stephen pushed hard for Insurrection Act: NYT

In another excerpt hyping their upcoming insider account “Regime Change,” New York Times White House reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan describe lengthy internal debates about the suspension of Habeas Corpus during the Kilmar Abrego Garcia drama of Spring 2025 and then an invocation of the Insurrection Act after the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis in January of this year, with both fights being led by neckbearded Vice President JD Vance and inadequate man Stephen Miller as they sought maximal oppression via presidential fiat.

During the first battle, MAGA lawyer Will Scharf compiled a memo titled “THE WRIT OF HABEAS CORPUS,” to explain to the zealots what the concept actually was, writing that “The history of habeas corpus dates back to the very dawn of English common law… Denial of habeas corpus rights was a key grievance underlying the American Revolution, and the right to apply to the federal courts for habeas review dates to the beginning of the republic,” that reference seeming more than a little on the nose for a team that constantly claim to be the inheritors of George Washington’s legacy.

Miller backed down and through other means bricked the immigration court system. Further down in the lenghty clip, Haberman and Swan write that “the September 2025 assassination of the conservative activist Charlie Kirk had galvanized Mr Vance and Mr Miller – longtime allies on the question of left-wing political violence – to broaden federal investigations of domestic terrorism to encompass a wider range of progressive groups,” beginning a dark road that ended in Good and Pretti’s murders by DHS stormtroopers and a capitulation by the Trump Regime over the subsequent public uproar. In a late January meeting Chief of Staff Susie Wiles lamented the bloodshed, saying the mission had been “to arrest people who were getting federal benefits wrongly. This is what we went to Minnesota for. And we are so far off that mission.” Large-headed fascist Steven Cheung agreed that the regime was taking too much heat, leading Vance and Miller to back down.
