In our work as policymakers who strive for democracy and human rights in the face of dictatorial regimes in the Western Hemisphere and beyond, we have rarely witnessed such courage, selflessness, and firm grasp of morality as we have in Maria Corina Machado. She has risked everything to rally the previously flagging spirits of the Venezuelan people. They have suffered 25 years of oppression, torture, murder, and economic deprivation at the hands of the Chavez-Maduro regime who has systematically undermined democratic institutions and perpetuated a regional crisis of monumental proportions. Machado stands as a beacon of hope and resilience,” says an August 26, 2024 letter to the Nobel Prize Committee signed by then-Senator now-Secretary of State Marco Rubio, then-Congressman now-UN Ambassador Mike Waltz, Senator Rick Scott, House GOP members Neal Dunn, Carlos Gimenez, Mario Diaz-Balart, Maria Elvira Salazar – and Byron Donalds, who luckily has already been endorsed by convicted felon President Trump in his gubernatorial bid.

They were not the only qualified nominators to give Machado the nod. Nor were they even the first as ten days earlier the presidents of Miami Dade College, Florida International University, St Thomas University, and Barry University had, on behalf of the American Museum of the Cuban Diaspora and Florida exile group Inspire America, formally submitted their nomination letter backing Machado.

But (A) that’s not going to matter to the fanboys should Laura Loomer or someone find out about what Rubio and pals did last year and (B) the fanboys wouldn’t exactly be wrong given the known record of Congressional Republicans’ nominations for anyone other than Machado or Trump during the 2025 submission period from February 1st, 2024 to January 31st, 2025: There are no others.

Far right mental patient Congresswoman Claudia Tenney nominated the fat fuck in December 2024 alongside Israeli dictator Benjamin Netanyahu and the defense minister he had fired the previous month. It was the second time she had nominated Trump that year, but the first was a solo nod on January 30, 2024 and obviously that ended with the same salt and tears as the next effort.

And that was it from the Republicans in Congress. An 8-to-1 ratio – two of them now in Donald’s cabinet and the third his pick for the highest office in his home state – of Machado to Trump. There’s no public record of anyone else nominating Machado after the college presidents and the Florida Republicans in Congress (nomination records are sealed for 50 years). Hard to say that Rubio et al’s nod definitely boosted the previous one but it’s also 100 percent impossible to prove it did not.

None of them ever nominated Trump that year or ever. Not a great look for their loyalty, lol.

The fat bastard himself was “gracious” in defeat because Machado was “gracious” in victory, which Donald went and posted a screenshot of this tweet on his Truth Social feed just minutes ago:

I dedicate this prize to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!” Machado wrote, emphasis added on where you can tell she definitely read that Bloomberg article about Norway.

And then Trump was not “gracious,” reposting this Benny Johnson tweet immediately afterward:

“It is not for me to judge whether the current US President deserves the Nobel Peace Prize or not, I don’t know. But he is genuinely doing a lot to resolve these complex crises that have lasted for years, in some cases even decades… NO ONE can disagree that sometimes people who did NOTHING for peace get the prize… The significance of the prize has eroded, that’s what was happening,” said the guy who signs Benny’s paychecks in comments on Donald’s defeat.
