Virginia’s online portal to submit registrations shut down on the final day for to register to vote after a fiber optic cable was cut south of Richmond, Virginia, the New York Times reports.
Apparently cut by accident, the Virginia Information Technology Agency said that the cable could be repaired by early afternoon. The outage impacted a number of different state agencies.
The voter registration website advised people seeking to register to vote to print out a registration application and either drop it off at a registration office or put it in the mail. All registration postmarked by today will be accepted.
