Peter Navarro seems to be handling the bad news fairly well

We missed this earlier on Monday, but a DC judge ruled Navarro has to go to prison next week. Too bad he’s probably not going to be allowed to keep tweeting while he’s behind bars.

Former Mar-a-Lago employee tells CNN that he unknowingly helped Trump hide stolen classified documents from prosecutors

Brian Butler, the man identified as “Trump Employee 5” in Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith’s indictment of the disgraced former president for stealing classified documents from the White House and refusing a lawful subpoena for their return, sat down for an interview with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins and revealed that he unknowingly helped Donald’s top minion Walt Nauta load boxes full of classified documents onto Trump’s plane in June 2022 – the same day that federal prosecutors were meeting with the fat fuck’s lawyers to try to defuse the standoff.

Having since left his job running the motor pool at Mar-a-Lago after 20+ years, Buter said Nauta was acting weird that day as Trump was also preparing to move to Bedminster, New Jersey for the summer, but Butler didn’t see anything inside the banker’s boxes. A few weeks later Nauta had flown back down to Florida but other co-conspirator Carlos De Olivera told Butler that the visit was a secret. Butler later learned that Nauta was there to delete the surveillance footage.

Butler said the investigation into De Olivera “was a total no-win situation for me. I mean, they’re asking me questions about one of my best friends. I’m being honest. But I also have a bad feeling that what I’m saying is getting him into trouble. Nobody should have to go through that. And for him (Trump) to get up there all the time and say the things he says about this being a witch hunt and everything… He just can’t take responsibility for anything.”

National Zero rodent-related news round-up

Beavers munching their way into Northern Alaska: Wildlife experts tell the Anchorage Daily News that, as global warming increases the spread of trees into what had been bare tundra in recent years, beavers have expanded their natural habitat as well. University of Alaska Fairbanks ecology Professor Ken Tape, who really likes looking at beavers, has even gone to far as to establish the Arctic Beaver Observation Network, which is something of a command center for Alaskan beaver watching. “It basically changes from a little stream into a sprawling wetlands,” Tape said, pointing to satellite images of one site where beavers have had major impacts on local ecosystems.

Rats getting high as fuck in the Big Easy: New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick on Monday told a city council meeting that the force’s aging headquarters building on Orleans Avenue and Broad Street is falling apart and infested with rats – that have started eating the stored weed in the evidence locker, NOLA.com reports. “The rats are eating our marijuana,” said Kirkpatrick at a Criminal Justice Committee meeting on Monday. “They’re all high.”

Chuck Todd doesn’t have anything to say about Biden’s State of The Union Address: Former Meet The Press anchor (but still employed by NBC) Chuck Todd on Thursday afternoon tweeted “If you don’t think the SOTU matters, then don’t waste my time emailing multiple press releases, substacks and columns telling me that the SOTU doesn’t matter. Here’s a crazy idea: maybe simply write about something else,” then retweeted two other guys and hasn’t posted anything since. Seems almost like he’s disappointed or something. Like if it was that important why didn’t he follow up?

House GOP report to “debunk” Trump steering wheel grab incident

The committee investigating the House January 6th Select Committee’s investigation of January 6th, led by credibly suspected traitor Georgia MAGA Congressman Barry Loudermilk, will attempt to debunk the infamous “steering wheel grab incident” from the day – in which fat former President Trump threw a tantrum and assaulted Secret Service agents in the presidential SUV when they told him they could not and would not drive him to the Capitol just as the riot was starting – as part of a “sweeping” report to be released on Monday, according to an excerpt obtained by NBC News.

“None of the White House Employees corroborated Hutchinson’s sensational story about President Trump lunging for the steering wheel of the Beast. However, some witnesses did describe the President’s mood after the speech at the Ellipse,” the excerpt says, detailing that although another White House employee described Trump as “irate” upon his return from the Ellipse rally, “it is highly improbable that the other White House Employees would have heard about the President’s mood in the SUV following his speech at the Ellipse but not heard the sensational story that Hutchinson claims [Tony] Ornato told her after returning to the White House on January 6.”

For those keeping score at home this is what House Republicans are slapping together to help Trump squeak out a win in the Electoral College: A report that says it’s “highly unlikely” that he tried to choke a Secret Service agent and then grabbed the steering wheel of the SUV when they told him he couldn’t join a violent mob that was then minutes away from sacking the US Capitol.

Orange Defendant now claiming “presidential immunity” in NYC

Fat former President Trump’s lawyers on Monday filed a motion seeking adjournment of his upcoming trial on charges he falsified business records in 2016 and 2017 when he paid off a porn star to stay quiet over their 45 second sexual encounter in 2006, claiming “presidential immunity” for a state-level crime that started before he was even elected under questionable circumstances.

“The Court must preclude the People from offering evidence at trial of President Trump’s official acts as the Commander in Chief, which the People have not yet specified as the existing trial date approaches. However, in motions in limine recently filed on February 22, 2024, the People argued that they should be permitted to offer evidence at trial concerning a fictitious socalled ‘pressure campaign’ by President Trump in 2018 relating to Michael Cohen. Although the People did not describe the evidence they intend to offer in detail, it appears that the evidence includes public statements by President Trump and posts to his official Twitter account, as well as testimony from unspecified witnesses. The People’s recent proffer implicates presidential immunity because President Trump was President of the United States at the time of those actions in 2018.”

“He made at least some of the 2018 statements at issue – and potentially all of them, though it is hard to be sure in light of the People’s vague in limine description – in his official capacity as the nation’s Chief Executive. Moreover, while it is clear that the People intend to offer documents and testimony relating to the period in 2017 when President Trump was in office, they have not provided sufficiently specific notice of the nature and extent of that evidence to allow President Trump or the Court to distinguish between personal and official acts,” Trump’s lawyers wrote.

Deep State targets conservative religious group’s finances

“Today, the US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) imposed sanctions on 16 entities and individuals who compose an expansive business network spanning the Horn of Africa, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Cyprus that raises and launders funds for Al-Shabaab, a terrorist group affiliated with Al-Qaeda. Individuals within this network include influential businesspeople in the region that lend financial backing to Al-Shabaab, a terrorist group responsible for some of the worst terrorist attacks in East Africa’s modern history.”

“These attacks have claimed the lives of thousands of innocent civilians. These individuals and entities are being designated pursuant to Executive Order (EO) 13224, as amended, which targets terrorist groups and their enablers. Al-Shabaab generates over $100 million per year by extorting local businesses and individuals, as well as through the financial support of affiliated businesspeople. The threat posed by Al-Shabaab is not limited to Somalia. Al-Shabaab’s revenues are disbursed to other Al-Qaeda-supported groups worldwide and help fund Al Qaeda’s global ambitions to sow discord and undermine good governance. This action continues Treasury’s efforts to disrupt Al-Shabaab’s abuse of the regional financial system and builds on OFAC’s October 2022 designation of a network of Al-Shabaab financial facilitators who served as key interlocutors between Al-Shabaab and local businesses in Somalia” says a Treasury Department press release.

Carroll lawyer says she’s ready to go with another defamation suit

“The statute of limitations for defamation in most jurisdictions is between one and three years. As we said after the last jury verdict, we continue to monitor every statement that Donald Trump makes about our client, E Jean Carroll,” Carroll lawyer Robbie Kaplan tells New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman after the Orange Degenerate continued to defame her client on Monday.

Happy Daylight Saving Monday!

Here’s your twice-yearly reminder that this shit is fucking stupid and needs to stop already, but only if Daylight Saving Time is year round. We must not suffer getting rid of it altogether, which would suck worse than this one week or so of increased car crashes and heart attacks.

Sex trafficking victim says Katie Britt was full of shit

Karla Jacinto, the woman whose story Alabama Senator Katie Britt appropriated for her Lifetime audition-style monologue Thursday night, tells CNN Britt was lying about the circumstances of their meeting and is tired of assholes like Britt using her story for political gain.

“I hardly ever cooperate with politicians, because it seems to me that they only want an image. They only want a photo – and that to me is not fair,” said Jactino. “I work as a spokesperson for many victims who have no voice, and I really would like them to be empathetic: all the governors, all the senators, to be empathetic with the issue of human trafficking because there are millions of girls and boys who disappear all the time. People who are really trafficked and abused, as she [Britt] mentioned. And I think she [Britt] should first take into account what really happens.”

CNBC hosts having a difficult time with Trump

Disgraced former President Trump joined CNBC’s “Squawk Box” over the phone Monday, which of course was a rambling mess. It’s still going on but among the lowlights so far were the hosts asking a question about Bitcoin ETFs, trying to get him to endorse the crypto industry which ended up with the fat fuck rambling about how much a signed pair of his $400 sneakers sold for at auction, calling Facebook the “enemy of the people” while walking back on his crusade to ban TikTok and saying Mark Zuckerberg should go to prison over the 2020 election, saying he would figure out other ways to save American families money though taxes because he’s all in on putting a 10 percent tariff on imports from China, and all sorts of other bullshit. The hosts have to keep interrupting him.

What’s fun about listening to him being unable to answer simple questions this is imagining all the Wall Street assholes who watch this channel popping an Alka-Seltzer knowing that electing this fat demented fuck – who once again defamed rape victim EJ Carroll on the tail end of the interview – is their one and only hope for major tax cuts and deregulation over the next four years.

Team Orange assign kommandant to “watch the money” at RNC

Their hostile takeover of the Republican National Committee complete, fat former President Trump’s campaign have assigned lawyer and former RNC executive and Trump White House foreign aid appointee Sean Cairncross to “watch the money” at the national party, a source tells Axios, with Cairncross’s mandate ostensibly to do a deep dive into expenses and cut off vendors who aren’t pulling their weight. What that actually means in practice is anyone’s guess, though it’s fun to imagine the worst and that Cairncross will fuck things up for down-ballot GOP campaigns by funneling too much money to Trump’s and dicking over the wrong vendors.

Dem Senate PAC reserves $239 million in ad buys

The Democratic Senate Majority PAC, called simply “Senate Majority PAC” is gearing up to spend $65 million in Ohio to back Senator Sherrod Brown, $42 million in Pennsylvania behind Senator Bob Casey, $14 million in Wisconsin on Senator Tammy Baldwin, $23 million in Arizona to back Congressman Ruben Gallego vs Kari Lake, and $14 million in Michigan to boost Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin to hold retiring Senator Debbie Stabenow’s seat – all on top of $45 million in Montana for Jon Tester and $36 million in Nevada for Jacky Rosen, the Washington Post reports.

“In 2024, a woman’s access to abortion, health care coverage for preexisting conditions, and the preservation and strengthening of Medicare and Social Security are all on the ballot,” PAC President JB Poersch said in a statement. “That’s why we’re placing the largest ad reservations in Senate history, to remind voters exactly what’s at stake this election… Republicans have chosen to put forward a mass of unvetted, shady, corrupt, and wildly out of touch Republicans who care more about lining their own pockets than serving the people. This massive television and digital investment will allow us to reach voters where they are and hold Republicans accountable.”

Malevolent Mango hurling insults at Oscars and… Stephanopoulos?

“Has there EVER been a WORSE HOST than Jimmy Kimmel at The Oscars. His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be. Get rid of Kimmel and perhaps replace him with another washed up, but cheap, ABC ‘talent,’ George Slopanopoulos,” the Man with the Tiny Hands Donald Truth trumped… um, er… Trump truthed. He would make everybody on stage look bigger, stronger, and more glamorous. Also a really bad politically correct show tonight, and for years – Disjointed, boring, and very unfair. Why don’t they just give the Oscars to those that deserve them. Maybe that way their audience and TV ratings will come back from the depths. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Wait… George Slopano– I mean, Stephanopoulos?  Why is Trump suddenly picking on the news host and Clinton White House figure?  Oh, maybe it’s because Stephanopoulos embarrassed Trump’s latest acolyte, Nancy Mace:

Press agencies recall photo of Princess Kate, claiming manipulation

National Zero isn’t typically on the British Royals beat, partly because we don’t cover reality show stars and they’re not that unusual for rich people, but here’s an exception:  The major press agencies have issued a removal notice for a photo they distributed that was released by the royal family purportedly taken by Prince William showing Kate, the Princess of Wales, posing with her children following abdominal surgery, saying the photo shows signs that it was altered before it was released.

According to NBC News, the photo was first published on the official social media account of the Prince and Princess of Wales but people quickly started noting inconsistencies and oddities in the photo including sections that appeared unnaturally blurred and body parts that seemed out of proportion.  Kate hasn’t been seen in public since Christmas, and she reported was hospitalized for two weeks in January for surgery.

Photo manipulation wasn’t unheard of in the Trump administration, who did everything from cropping photos of his inauguration to make his crowd size seem larger to editing video to allege a member of the media hit a White House staffer.
